Haircare Trends To Watch Out For In 2023

Haircare Trends To Watch Out For In 2023
New year, new trends! Each new year brings with it a set of new predictions for styles that will have us all in a chokehold for the next 12 months. Here at Justmylook we live, laugh, love all things beauty so we like to think we know a thing or two about upcoming trends. So, here are our predictions for the 2023 haircare trends to watch out for!

Healthy Girl Hair

Think less over-styling, less product and less harsh colouring. 2023 is definitely a less is more vibe, with a strong focus on natural styles that look super healthy and hydrated. Think clean girl makeup, but for your hair.

Banging Hair

Yup, bangs are making a comeback, or should we say fringes. 2022 saw relaxed hairstyles such as the butterfly and wolf cut and curtain bangs, so the natural progression from these shorter in the front laidback styles is the re-emergence of the shaggy bang (yea, the name needs some work). Think thick fringes with texture that sweeps into the sides of the hair, a la Alexa Chung circa the early 2000s.

Skincare Meets Haircare

Ok, so this isn't a new concept and has been on the rise throughout 2022, but 2023 will see this trend continue to grow and evolve. Last year we saw scalp scrubs and brushes emerge, and this year we will see this taken to the next level with scalp serums and more holistic approaches introduced to our routines.

Holistic Haircare

As mentioned above, taking a holistic approach to our hair and scalp will continue to increase in popularity. Last year saw the TikTok trend of ‘hair slugging' take hold, the tradition known as oiling in many South Asian communities. Massaging oils into the scalp and lengths of the hair helps to promote hair growth and adds hydration and sleekness to hair. Traditions like this were shunned or ignored in western culture for years, even mocked in fact, but as we learn more about different cultures and traditions, we are also learning too about the health benefits of said traditions. This is set to carry on in 2023 as we look to more traditional ways to keep our scalp and hair healthy – think DIY hair masks featuring fresh flowers from Indian culture or hair buttering via Ethiopia.
