How To Get That Summer Glow

How To Get That Summer Glow
This summer it's all about the glowing skin look - from glass skin to glazed skin, it's all about looking glowy and hydrated. But how can you get the look without just piling on buckets of highlighter? Well, let's get started...

Prep, Prep, Prep

The secret to a great makeup application is taking time to make sure your skin is prepped to perfection. Making sure you're using the right serums and moisturisers will ensure your skin has the 'lit from within' look to build upon with makeup for a beautiful glow. Use hydrating products such as Hyaluronic Acid serums or the Essence Hello Good Stuff Serum Primer (a Glow Recipe Glow Drops dupe) that gives the skin a beautiful glass-like sheen.

SPF

Not only can a good SPF protect your skin from sun damage, but it's an easy way to add some extra glow to your complexion too. We're big fans of Glow Hub's Sun Silk SPF30 for giving the skin an extra pop, as well as the Nip+Fab Illuminate Moisturiser SPF30 too. Both products provide an unmatched glow, without adding a greasy texture to the skin which some SPFs can do. Glow, not grease is the mantra.

Amp Up The Base

Now you've mastered the prep your skin should have a radiant glow about it, so you want to carry on building on this with products that compliment it - think more BB less matte. If you already have a foundation you adore and don't want to splash out on a new one, instead pick up the Collection Gorgeous Glow Filter Finish Primer & Illuminator to mix in with it. Filter Finish is a lightweight skin perfector that can be used alone, under makeup or mixed in with your preferred base to make a glowing lightweight version of your fave. When using bronzers, blush and highlight try to use as many cream or liquid products as possible too, especially blush that has a sheen, such as the Revolution Hot Shot Cheek Tint which is a sheer wash of dewy colour.

Finishing Steps

With your glow all done, you want to keep it - which means minimal powder. Only powder the areas where you really need it; such as the chin, nose and the centre of the forehead. Leave other areas powder free so the glow can continue to shine. Once powdered use a hydrating or dewy spray such as The Beauty Crop Oui Cherie Hydrating Dual-Phase Setting Mist to set your makeup in place, but also give an extra shot of hydration.
